Australia Wide Safaris operate their main safari camp on 'Carmor Plains". This large wildlife reserve of 100 000 acres is situated 210km east of Darwin, only 2 hours driving time. Our closest neighbour is Kakadu National Park.

Half of the reserve is covered by scenic flood plains, the other by forest. The flood plains are totally covered in water during the summer when most of the rain falls. The higher land is reasonably flat with a high upper canopy of trees and low shrubs and grasses. In some other areas there are thick rainforests and springs.

Since I first visited Carmor Plains in 1992 I have never seen such wildlife concentrated in one area. For native animals and introduced game, this reserve is a perfect habitat for all wildlife. Crocodiles, water buffalo, wild boar, wild horses, kangaroos, wallabies, goannas and countless varieties of wetland and forest birds are always within viewing distance.

Carmor Plains is the only private coastal game reserve with Water Buffalo, Wild Boar, Water fowl and Crocodiles, all in extremely high populations and all in the same concession.

Australia Wide Safaris provides first class accommodation and dining for our guests. Our private cabin's are all air conditioned with their own ensuite bathrooms. All meals are carefully prepared by our Chef in the homestead's dining room, over looking the vast flood plains. Breakfast and lunch can be served in the dining room or out on the deck of our gazebo which offers 270 degree views of the floodplains. Local game meats and some of the best Australian beef steaks and Barramundi fish fillets are on the menu daily. See the safari camp gallery.

Carmor Plains Wildlife Reserve operates for 12 months of the year catering to safari hunters and photographic tourists from all over the world, in search of Water Buffalo, Wild Boar, Crocodiles or just a fantastic photograph of a Wallaby.

So whether it be serious trudging through the bush hunting buffalo, an airboat safari looking for crocodiles or maybe just dinner and wine out on the gazebo deck watching the sun set, the team at Carmor Plains will give you 100 percent to ensure your safari is a success.
